Your Compassion Today. Their Hope Tomorrow.
At St. Vincent Haven, we believe every man deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity for a new beginning. Every day, we witness the extraordinary difference that kindness, generosity, and faith can make in the lives of men experiencing homelessness.
But the need for our mission will not end tomorrow.
By remembering St. Vincent Haven in your estate or legacy plans, you can help ensure that men facing homelessness in Licking County will continue to find a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, compassionate guidance, and a pathway toward stability for generations to come.
A legacy gift is more than a financial contribution. It is an enduring expression of your values, your compassion, and your belief in the dignity of every human life.
Whether your gift is large or small, your generosity can create a lasting impact.
One of the most meaningful ways to provide for the future of St. Vincent Haven is through a gift to an endowment fund benefiting our mission.
Endowment gifts are designed to provide long-term financial support. Funds are invested, and distributions made according to each foundation's policies provide a continuing source of support for our work.
We are grateful to offer donors opportunities to support St. Vincent Haven through two respected philanthropic partners:
The Catholic Foundation helps individuals and families create lasting charitable legacies that reflect their faith and values. A gift to an endowment benefiting St. Vincent Haven through The Catholic Foundation can help sustain our mission of serving men experiencing homelessness while honoring the Catholic principles of charity, compassion, and human dignity that inspire our work.

There are many ways to make a planned or deferred gift to St. Vincent Haven. Some gifts provide immediate benefits to our mission, while others take effect in the future. Certain arrangements may also offer financial or tax advantages to you and your loved ones.
One of the simplest ways to leave a lasting legacy is to include St. Vincent Haven in your will or revocable living trust. You may choose to leave a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, particular assets or property, or all or part of the remainder of your estate after other obligations and gifts are fulfilled. A bequest allows you to retain control of your assets during your lifetime while making a meaningful commitment to our future.
Naming St. Vincent Haven as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement account can be a particularly tax-efficient way to support our mission. Because qualified charitable organizations generally do not pay income tax on inherited retirement assets, this approach may preserve more of your estate's value for charitable purposes. You may designate St. Vincent Haven as a primary or contingent beneficiary of all or a percentage of an eligible retirement account.
A life insurance policy can become a powerful legacy gift. You may name St. Vincent Haven as a beneficiary of an existing policy or, in certain circumstances, transfer ownership of a policy to our organization. This option may allow you to make a significant future gift while preserving other assets for your family.
Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares may let you support St. Vincent Haven while avoiding capital gains tax that might otherwise arise from selling those assets. These gifts may be made during your lifetime or arranged through your estate.
A charitable gift annuity may allow you to make a charitable commitment while receiving fixed payments for life. Through a qualified charitable gift annuity program, you transfer assets in exchange for a contractual stream of payments. The remaining charitable value ultimately benefits the organization you designate. Ask our foundation partners whether a charitable gift annuity can be structured to benefit St. Vincent Haven.
A charitable remainder trust allows you or designated beneficiaries to receive income for a specified period or lifetime, with the remaining assets ultimately passing to charity. This arrangement may be especially attractive to donors who wish to support loved ones, manage appreciated assets, and create a future charitable legacy.
A charitable lead trust provides financial support to a charitable organization for a designated period, after which the remaining assets are distributed to your heirs or other beneficiaries. For some families, this strategy can combine charitable giving with thoughtful estate and wealth-transfer planning.
Real estate, including a home, land, or investment property, may be used to create a lasting charitable gift. Depending on the circumstances, gifts may be made outright, through an estate, or through an arrangement that allows you to retain certain lifetime rights. Acceptance of real estate and other noncash assets is subject to review and approval.
If you have established a donor-advised fund, you may recommend grants to support St. Vincent Haven during your lifetime. You may also establish a succession plan or charitable beneficiary recommendation so that remaining fund assets continue supporting causes you care about after your lifetime. Your donor-advised fund sponsoring organization can explain its available succession and legacy options.
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to an eligible charitable organization. Although a QCD is generally a current gift rather than a deferred gift, it can be an effective part of your broader charitable and estate planning. Eligible QCDs may satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution and may be excluded from taxable income, subject to applicable IRS rules. Please confirm the receiving organization's eligibility before arranging a QCD. Distributions to donor-advised funds and certain other charitable arrangements do not qualify.
For some, legacy giving is an expression of faith. For others, it is a way to give back to a community that has meant so much throughout their lives.
Whatever inspires your generosity, your legacy can help ensure that the doors of St. Vincent Haven remain open to men who need us most.

Your generosity today can become someone's second chance tomorrow.
Making a planned gift is a deeply personal decision. We would be honored to speak with you about your philanthropic goals and how you might create a lasting legacy through St. Vincent Haven.
There is no minimum gift required to make a meaningful difference, and you do not need to disclose the value of your planned gift to let us know that you have included The Haven in your plans.
If you have already remembered St. Vincent Haven in your will, trust, or beneficiary designations, please let us know so that we may personally thank you for your extraordinary commitment to our mission.
